It's been chilly this week (payback time for those warm days this winter) so I made this simple hat using the same yarn I used to make seven (!) hats for my son and his college roommates earlier this year (no photos, sadly). Theirs were each a different color of this cozy yarn and each had his initial knit into his hat. I'm pretty sure they were being silly when they asked for them, and the hats have probably all disappeared into the great unknown by now, but it was very good practice for me and I loved knitting for the "Bauhaus" boys.
Linda, a friend who is an expert knitter, loaned me her nice little cable needle that is shaped, appropriately, like a shepherd's crook. Much nicer than the straight-ish ones I had.
I was knitting with a bright green yarn thinking it was a color not to be found in nature, but then went for a drive in the rain and saw amazing greens with bits of gray and brown everywhere.
I have started and restarted about 5 different hats this week. Maybe it's the wool, maybe the colors, but nothing is pleasing me. I continue to learn though and that does make me happy.
Fulfilling the request for a yellow cotton hat for a 10-month-old girl. Turns out yellow cotton yarn is not so easy to find. This has little flat blips in it and is soft and pretty stretchy. I hope it fits her.
tahki yarns ripple with cashmerino band and pom pom
This is too much of the same ochre for me and I tried to make it work with a little texture. I think it will turn into a different hat soon.
Cashsoft is nice, though I wish it didn't have its small percentage of acrylic. (Snobbery on my part.) It's mostly merino, some acrylic, with a bit of cashmere.
